Hi Bunnies!!
We had some friends in town which is always a reason for many treats. Not that I have ever been limited to treats…
Breakfast
One morning we all tried Commerce Inn for breakfast. I was so fulfilled at the experience. The server was perfectly sassy, food was perfectly greasy and still tasteful. It was hard for me to finish anything fully but I got to try lots of many things. The all star of the show was the special which was potato pancakes with apple butter and sour cream.
Zimmi’s
I have to say, I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed this. I had mid expectations going in, my mind thinking that it might just be a version of a King wannabe. I love being wrong (sometimes). Maxime and his team cooked everything to perfection. Not a second too long on the asparagus, not a sprinkle too much of salt on the pesto pasta. The highlight for me was citrus salad. We had the most interesting wine I have had in a long time( forgot to write it down…long night) but I will go back in search of it. And not interesting in a bad way but in a way that makes you learn something new. On the note of wine, I highly suggest watching Drops of God if you have not already.
Quick treat at Butterfield Market ❤(´♡ᴗ♡`)❤
If you know me, I am always on a quest for a CCS ( Chinese Chicken Salad) and here they had one in the to-go section. Was not mad at it but of course it is no Chin Chins. I love going to the upper east side because there is the best Froyo in the city there. I will always do plain tart flavor anywhere I go. Usually with coconut shavings but this time with oreos.
Fast Dinner : Sunshine Turkey chili. I was going to call it light turkey chili ( as in not tomato based) but I decided it sounded like Lite and I didn’t like that. So sunshine it is.
Something along the lines of: Sauté an onion, carrot (optional), celery ( I didn’t have any but I would’ve added it) with a little dash of salt and pepper, turmeric, and paprika. After the onions are translucent, Cook down the turkey and mix into small bits. Add chicken broth to cover and add in cooked white beans ( I had made some prior but canned will do). I didn’t have chiles so I did something wild and found a small can of salsa verde. I threw that in and let it all cook for about 45 min. ( it really doesn’t even need that long). Then added a whole box of chopped spinach. Enjoyed with a bunch of lime juice, cilantro, and avo. And honestly this was very good. This sounds a bit random but it somehow worked.
