Hi bunnies,
Where did I leave you last? Time is going up into a swirl. What the hell did I even eat last week?
I have been very gluten picky as an adult - eating it out when I want a yummy pasta or buying it at home only for special treats. Lately, I have been going through a bread craze - sesame sourdough (from Elbow) with butter. I want it every morning. So I do.
Anyways - here is what else I loved and didn’t love so much:
My favorite meal of last week was a cod + cabbage coconut curry I made for a last minute dinner party of three. I think I want this every week?
It went something like this :
Cook some rice. I did jasmine.
Meanwhile, cut cabbage long-wise into quarters. You can sear the cabbage before if you want to in the hot pan with a bit of oil, to crisp up. I did not but normally I would.
Heat olive oil, Sauté 1 chopped onion, a carrot, potatoes if you please, and a large piece of ginger ( minced). I have been just grating my ginger straight in on a microplane. Add in a sprinkle of turmeric and a large sprinkle of garam masala powder. Add in a a tablespoon of miso paste, mix everything together - let this create some yumminess for a minute or so. Don’t let it burn. Add in a cup of chicken bone broth, two cans of organic coconut milk, one of those cans then filled with water and dumped in. Mix + Let everything marry together. Make sure the cabbage is covered. I cooked this for about an hour. When I was getting ready to eat I threw in the cod and cooked in the liquid for about 8 min. Add so much lime juice. Lots of dill. Eat with rice and enjoy.
12 matcha. I am obsessed with it. They open officially tomorrow! I am super particular about my matcha and I think they do it so well. It also feels so good- it is the perfect amount of buzz, which I love to feel. Beyond that the team is so kind, the space is gorgeous. I have been thinking about how matcha has been
Sweetgreen-ed and that no one knows how to make it- And 12 just brings it back to the pace it needs to be. I get an oat cappuccino and have tried the iced. Need to try the ice cream badly.
Dancing until 2am. Reminder that you are alive.
Yoga the next morning 30 min after you wake up. Another reminder that you are alive.
Lafayette - I have been such a hater to this place. You know I love to be a hater (+ a lover.) We must have walked by it a hundred times a month and I just always roll my eyes at the tourist line, saying that I will never try it. Well. I tried it. My friend Corey is in town and we met for breakfast and it was grand. No line at 9am on a Saturday. Croissants are firstly not my thing generally but these were definitely filled with a proper cream. Which is double-def not my thing. What rocked for me was the Cinna-Cruffin - it is like a crumpled croissant muffin - coated in cinnamon. Their bacon was thick and yummy. Eggs chunky - and tastes like dairy ( not for me ). It was good an totally solid for a beautiful place to sit and eat breakfast. Was honestly excited to actually enjoy it. For the only croissant that I can think of liking try Aux Merveilleux de Fred when they come right out of the oven in the morning, they also have amazing brioche.
Drew tried Super Burrito, and I ordered guac and chips but then ended up eating half of his steak burrito. Honestly solid - I would like to try their version of the Crunch Wrap Supreme. They have something called a Pico Back - nod to a pickle back, which J’adore. The pico back is underwhelming in a good way? I enjoyed the concept and thought it worked but not sure if I will be ever having one again.
A quickie
Steak from Paisanos (,,♡ᵕ♡,,) with broccoli and quinoa.
ANYWAYS -
eat well bunnies,
Sakura
