Good Morning Bunnies!!
After a week of family in town, we went to Maine last week - which is essentially magical fairy land with the nicest people, but on the water. So my perfect place.
I love this oven mitt that was in our home. We stayed a little north of Portland, in this house that was a Lobster House. Owned originally by a lobster catcher, several smaller houses scattered around the edge of the water, where they would bring in the lobster each day. Now a couple owns it who tried to preserve the history, the oldest son of the original family still comes and gets his lobster there and now oystermen as well. To me there is nothing better than any kind of shack on the water. In our mornings we would wake up and sauna and run down to the dock and jump in the freezing water.
Tried this kombucha and will now need to find a market in the city who carries it…
Made this herby corny Haddock dish. I will be making this again this summer and will share the recipe. It is easy and all you need.
Banana Bread from Alna Store :
A maple cortado… So I may be slowly integrating coffee back into my world… This was from Tandem, which I feel like everyone recommended to me. I had this one at the location of the roasters and preferred that vibe to their other main location which felt chaotic and not as personal.
The best pesto of my life at Solo Italiano. Recommended to me by a chef friend I trust who used to work with Chef Paolo. He was so gracious and everyone was beyond happy with what they ate. I would have never found this otherwise and was so happy to be amazed.
As a sushi family, we did have to try Mr. Tuna. Fun and while I don’t think it is the sushi experience we generally would go for, it was good.
This tuna de tigre was by far the best thing, a tuna and avocado salad with cilantro and toasted coconut. I will be remaking some form of this for the summer. I am having a desire to make cold fish salads ( is there a better word for this?) this year. Even in the cucumber salad I made last night, I want to rework it in the future to have some cold shrimp in it. Their cabbage salad was also crunchy and perfect.
And obviously a lobster roll… I traditionally go for CT style, warm with butter, but this was maybe the perfect proportioned LR I ever had. And not to mayonnaise-y.
During this all I started a new job, and with that comes some adjusting. Schedule, what I am eating, when and where etc. I’ll keep you updated on how this goes. This week I will be posting my new addiction salad…Ume Cucumber salad.
I also threw a large scale ice cream party! I can’t wait to show all the photos next week. <3
Do well, Eat well !
