I have had the craziest craving for this kind of packaged salmon we grew up eating. I didn’t know until I tried to google “dry salmon pieces”, “Japanese salmon rice” that this product is called salmon flake. I hate that phrase, it reminds me of dandruff. Apologies for making you imagine that too but I will choose to embrace this name from now on. You will find this is the fridge section of a Japanese market probably near the pickles. We grew up eating it in onigiri or simply on top of rice. It is salty and this is my recreation of it…that worked perfectly. While the texture is dryish from the package, I warn you it dries out quickly so I would eat this on the same day if you are opposed to that. I have a feeling I will start making this once a week just to have to make a quick rice bowl.
